        I Love Words

        Rhyming words,

        Singing birds,

        Soft, blue sky,

        Lullaby,

        Lion's Roar,

        Cellar door,

        Blinking,

        Winking,

        Twinkling,

        Sprinkling,

        Dance with glee,

        Melody,

        Spun and sun!

        Rhyming's fun.

        Spelling Bee

        It takes a good speller

        to spell cellar,

        separate, and benefiting;

        no omitting

        cemetery, cataclysm,

        picnicker and pessimism.

        And have you ever tried

        innocuous, inoculate,

        dessert, deserted, desiccate;

        divide and spied,

        gnat, knickers, gnome,

        crumb, crypt, and chrome;

        surreptitious, supersede,

        delete, dilate, impede?

        Words

        Words are the oddest things

        Haven't you found?

        Sometimes they don't look a

        Bit like they sound.

        There are "to," "too," and "two."

        Watch which you're using!

        If you're not a good speller

        It's very confusing!

        Sometimes one word can mean

        Different things;

        We draw with straight "rulers"

        Or else it means "kings."

        When you recite "bow,"

        But shoot with a "bow."

        Words are the oddest things!

        Don't you think so?

        The Dictionary

        I hope that I shall never be

        Devoid of curiosity

        About the meaning of a word

        Which I have either seen or heard.

        I hope when of a word I'm wary

        I'll always seek a dictionary,

        And learn to use it as a friend,

        For help and counsel without end.
