Stand in a circle and hold hands. You really need to up the volume to hear this song sung. (Pardon my singing voice!!)
Time to say Goodbye
The time we've had together
is coming to an end-
the things we learned,
the laughs we shared,
the days we got to spend.
Until we meet again someday,
our thoughts will be nearby.
But till that day, and just for now,
it's time to say goodbye.
But, till that day, and just for now,
it's time to say goodbye.
speak: Goodbye.
Let's Not Forget
Look into your hands,
Can you see the future?
Can you see the gift
that you'll leave
when hundreds of years go by?
Sometimes we forget.
Sometimes we get busy, busy.
But if we could pause to think of it,
the magic could start to happen!
Let's not forget
just what we can do
to make a diff'rence.
Remember
the future
depends on today.
Let's not forget.
Look around your world.
Can you see its wonder?
Can you feel the life that surrounds you
flowing from ev'rywhere?
Let's try to keep track.
Let's try to be open, open.
And if we can give a little more,
the magic will start to happen!
Let's not forget
just what we can do
to make a diff'rence.
Remember
the future
depends on today.
Let's not forget.
Let's not forget.
Let's not forget.
Let's not forget.
This was written for me by Mrs. Susan Berner, our Music Teacher who retired, and originally performed May 22, 2003 by teachers at my retirement party. On June 13, 2003 this song was performed by my adoring students and friends. The lyrics were modified for this song by William DuBois, a wonderful First Grade Teacher.
Ode to Mrs. Stein
(Sung to the tune of "Candyman")
Who can take a classroom, make it come alive?
Turn on the computer and start the old hard drive,
Mrs. Stein can, Oh, Mrs. Stein can.
Mrs. Stein can 'cause she mixes it with love and makes us all feel good.
Who can take some verses, turn them into rhymes?
Invite the parents in for a really good time,
Mrs. Stein can, Oh, Mrs. Stein can.
Mrs. Stein can 'cause she mixes it will love and makes us all feel good.
Mrs. Stein makes everything she takes satisfying and webilicious.
Talk about your childhood wishes,
She can even burn some disk-es.
What about tomorrow, make some little plans
Always for the kids at Canaan, that's her plan
Mrs. Stein can, Oh, Mrs. Stein can.
Mrs. Stein can 'cause she mixes it with love and makes us all feel good.
And we all feel good, 'cause Mrs. Stein thinks we should.
Poems
Dear _______,
You're a very special person
And __________, you should know
How I loved to be your teacher
And how fast the year did go!
We did a lot of special things-
We learned, we laughed, we cared
I always will remember you
And all the fun we shared.
Please come back to visit me
As through the grades you grow,
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!
The one thing I tried to teach you,
To last your whole life through
Is to know that you are special
Just because, _________, you are you!
This Hand I Hold
This hand I hold I touch it now
For all eternity,
And the knowledge that I share
I give from me to you.
In hope that all you do and say
Reflects the lessons learned,
And all the awards that you receive
Are ones that you have earned.
I am your present teacher
And your true friend,
But when the year is over
My thoughts of you won't end.
For in my dearest memory
Forever you will be,
And when you go I hope that you
Will take a part of me.
This hand I hold I touch it now
For all eternity,
And the knowledge that I share
I give from me to you.
In __year__ at the beginning of September
You came into my class, how well I remember.
Some of you were smiling and giggling a lot
Some were very quiet and a few tears I could spot
You came here to learn, to be taught how to read
You were then very much like a tiny new seed
You were all in my garden just waiting to grow
So this gardener got busy with her rake and her hoe
I fed you the water and let in the sun
You took in the soil, but we had only begun
Each day as I worked in this garden of mine
I saw you all growing so strong and so fine
Then finally one day I took a good look
And saw each of my flowers reading a book
It was obvious then that you had worked too
Soaking up all the food I had given to you
But although you have blossomed, you still need to grow
So I'll pass you on now to another gardener I know
She too has a rake and hoe she can use
And plenty of food from which you can choose
I hope you will keep your roots open wide
Take in all her food and keep it inside
Yes, a gardener can work all night and all day
But the flower must be willing to take in each ray
So work very hard in your garden each year
Do the best you can and you'll have nothing to fear
Grow strong and tall, reach up for the sun
Stay as nice as you are and have lots of fun.
I
Am
Glad I Was Your Teacher!
I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go.
Remember all the fun we had
in all the things we did
But most of all remember...
You're a Very Special Kid!
