Snapshot Poems

The Ocean
The hot, yellow sun hanging over the land
Swooshing water against a sandy bank
while the crabs dig
The sunset comes
The moon peeks up
All the while the crabs creep silently
into the sea
Now, silence on the ocean
It's waiting for another day to come.

By: Jaime

Blazing, hot rays from the sun
A tube water ride bouncing against the surface
Making swirls in the pool
People tanning themselves with lathered lotion
A feeling of happiness by looking at
my reflection in the water
Florida is a fun place to visit in the winter.

By: Kerri

Little, bright orange crabs swiftly
swimming across the bay
Blue waves meeting the fun sand
An angry shark chasing off another
to claim its zone
Dolphins showing off their flipping tails
Making Montauk Point home to all
sea critters.

Andrew

Colorful flowers waving in the breeze
The warm rays of the sun shining
down on the beautiful earth
Bees flitting from flower to flower, pollinating
Butterflies blending into the scene of a painted picture
The lovely colors of Nature brings a smile to my face.

By: Linda

My big bed I sleep on
A fan swirling on top of my ceiling
Wind blowing my brown hair
Clothes popping off my body
There I am...trying to see the wind!

By: Seth

Ice cream melting in my mouth
Winter clothes, spring clothes
how nice and cozy K.B. Toy Store filled with stuffed animals and dolls
The Disney Store with cute Winnie the Pooh things
Time to pay...time to go
I love to shop at the mall!

By: Meghan

Misty flowers in a beautiful vase
A pretty wreath hanging on a lonesome wall
Roses bulging with red
Streaming long stems
A special rose in the wreath is the prettiest.

By: Erik

Long lines of people praying to be let in
Suddenly screaming to go down a slide
flying at the end
Thinking you are doing frozen jumping jacks
Trying not to break your legs
being stuck in the air
Finally landing in the water
Feeling like you woke up from a dream.

By: Patrick

Blasting out of my bedroom blankets
Falling on the floor
A draft running down my spine
Clothes everywhere
Feeling good in my own space
Stuffed animals everywhere
My own presence feels warm and safe here.

By: Andrew

I see monkeys swinging on trees
Cobras slithering toward their prey
Gorillas gathering bananas for their young
Lions hunting silently for food
Signs leading to more animals at the zoo

By: Daniel

Deep blue water moving side to side
Children playing tag on the playground
Crabs swimming deeper and deeper into the water
The ocean becoming comer and comer
Tan sand moving lower and lower
Disappearing into the silence.

By: Jimmy

A beautiful Chinese garden
Canopy jars in a row
An amazing waterfall with a little dark cave
An enormous garden with spectacular flowers and plants
This beautiful sound
Sounds like music to my ears

By: Linda

An island of wet, splashy sea water
Parrot fishes glittering in the sunlight
Sea dolphins jumping high
Splashing water everywhere
Pounding waves against the seashore
Jamaica, where the crystal, clear water shines
The moon in the evening lights up the shore

Things To Do If You Are....

Things To Do If You Are A Ladybug
Land on humans
Have someone count my spots
Everyone would love me
Munch on leaves
Make a landing on the ground
Wheee!
Freedom

By: Jaime

What To Do If You Are The Sun
Shining brightly on the earth
Blazing across the sky
People watching me under a tree.
Blinding the people that stare at me.
Fighting the clouds that cover me.
Wanting to touch the earth with my golden rays.
The moon hiding my brightness by making an eclipse over me.

By: Erik

Things To Do If You Were The Sun
Rays up high
Blaze across the sky
Shining brightly like the stars
Set at night

By: McKenzi

What To Do If You Are The Wind
Whoosh!
Leaves fall off my tree in the fall.
Blowing breezes in people's faces when they're outside.
Making waves extremely powerful at the beach.
With forceful breezes blowing the desert sand in the evening.
Strong breezes everywhere!
Making might sandstorms .
Whipping everything up.
Everyone would fear me.

By: Jenna

Things To Do If You Were Mrs. Stein
If I were Mrs. Stein I would:
Teach my class.
Read quite a lot of books.
Write all the time with my class.
Correct lots of poetry spelling.
Work hard and do my best!
Be the greatest teacher I could be.
Teaching my kids is my future!

By: Shaina

Things To Do If You Were An Eagle
Swoop down
Grab fish out of the water.
Fly and kill deer.
Get my prey whenever I want.
Peck at wood .
Break off little pieces.
Soar by the sea.

By: Philip

What To Do If You Are A Piranha
Eat little fish.
Bite your finger off of your hand.
Swoosh my tail in the water, splashing.
Rip other fish in half.
long fins stretching out.
Big teeth to help me eat.
Yum!

By: Erik

If I Were An Apple
I'd be washed under cold water.
Wiped off by a soft, fluffy, towel.
Be sitting in a basket.
Wobbling side to side.
CRUNCH!
Oh, no!
Someone ate me.

By: Kerri

Things To Do If You Were A Car
Breaking at stoplights.
Crashing into trees.
Turning around corners.
Rushing to the store.
Parking in auto lots.
Sliding in the rain.
Driving to ball games.
Running down winding roads.
Always racing to the finish line.
Winning.

By: Jason

Things To Do If You Were A Bird
Flapping wings in the beautiful blue sky.
Laying eggs in a nice soft nest.
Singing a song to babies.
Swooping and soaring in the sky.
Waiting for another day to come.

By: Meghan

Things To Do If You Were A Dragon
Wounding any poacher that comes near.
Dodging through the wind.
Fighting with all my might.
Blasting fire.
Shredding enemies.
Frightening people.
Roaring up a storm.
Walking upon my golden throne.
Hunting down predators.

By: Andrew

Things To Do If You Were A Rhino
Running through a forest.
Jumping
Swishing my tail trying to smack flies.
Charging fast at my prey.
Swimming
Cooling off in yucky mud.

By: Philip

Things To Do If You Were A Kite
If I were a kite
I'd soar in the wind.
Fly with the birds.
Get tangled with other kites.
Kids would unroll the string.
Oops!
I got stuck in a tree!

By: Linda

If I Were A Flower
I'd bloom with highlighted colors.
Grow with rain and sun.
Be happy watching others grow.
Sprout up from little seeds.
Sleep in winter.
Awaken in spring.

By: McKenzi

If I Were A Unicorn
Jumping every minute and hour of the day.
Spreading my shining wings out.
Eating beautiful green leaves.
Drinking from a sparkling lake.
Walking on the cool dry grass.
Taking baths all day long.
Loving my horn.

By: Maria

Things To Do If You Were A Lion
I would run with the wind.
Roam the jungle attacking any poacher.
Scratching with all my might.
Shaking my golden crown.
Dodging through the trees.
Wounding enemies.
Sinking my teeth into an ape.
Leaping at zebras.
Guarding my young.
Being a carnavour.

By: Andrew

Hit stuff.
Playwith other comets.

By: Seth

Things to Do If You Were A Soccer ball
Get kicked all around.
Roll around a soccer field.
I'd be black and white.
After the kids played with me it would be night time.
I'd be put away until the next day.
Then I'd be taken out again.

By: Julie

If I Were An Eagle
Swooping through the air.
Catching a fish in the river.
Flying with a gust of wind.
