Only One Mother

Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.

Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the world wide over.

Motherís Work Song

(Sung to Comingí Round the Mt.)

Oh, a motherís work is never ever done,.

And she doesnít have much time for play or fun.

Itís a struggle to get through it,

Only mothers seem to do it

Yes, a motherís work is never ever done!

So we thank you, mom, for all you say and do.

And we thank you for your love; we love you, too.

Itís not often that we show it.

But, we want you Mom, to know it:
Mom, we thank you for your love we love you,
too.

A Mom Is Like A Flower

A mom is like a flower

On a sunny summer day.

Youíd pick her in a minute

If you could have your way.

A mom is like the sunshine;

She warms your heart each day

And makes you feel like smiling.

Itís just her special way

Of saying that she loves you

The way that mothers do.

A mom is very special.

Thatís why you love her, too.

What My Mother Means to Me

What my mother means to me:

a rose sitting in the rain

a world full of love and kindness

     a pretty mermaid swimming around

          in the bluest of seas

a golden coin lying in the street.

My mother means a lot of special things to me.

Love,

Susan

It takes a Mother's love

to make a house a home,

A place to be remembered,

no matter where we roam.

It takes a Mother's patience,

to bring a child up right,

And her courage and her cheerfulness

to make a dark day bright.

It takes a Mother's thoughtfulness

to mend the heart's deep "hurts,"

And her skill and her endurance

to mend little socks and shirts.

It takes a Mother's kindness

to forgive us when we err,

To sympathize in trouble

and bow her head in prayer.

It takes a Mother's wisdom

to recognize our needs

And to give us reassurance

by her loving words and deeds.

It takes a Mother's endless faith,

her confidence and trust

To guide us through the pitfalls

of selfishness and lust.

And that is why in all this world

there could not be another

Who could fulfill God's purpose

as completely as a MOTHER!

Even When

By: Marcie Tichenor

Even when I don't make A's

Even when my bad mood stays.

Even when I tear my shirt,

Even when I track in dirt,

Even when my hair has knots,

And my cheeks have mud-caked spots,

Even when I bring home bugs,

Garden snakes and frogs and slugs,

Even when, just like a clown,

I'm jumping up and jumping down

Pretending that you never said,

"No more jumping on the bed!"

Even when I pout and brood,

Even when I hide my food,

Even when there's lots of noise,

When I'm playing with my toys,

Even when I loudly chant,

"No, I can't. I can't. I CAN'T."

Even when I try my best,

But seems to lag behind the rest,

Even when I do not do,

Something that you asked me to,

Gosh! Even when I tell a lie.

Even when I make you cry...

You tell me that you love me still,

And you say, you always will.

A Mother's Work Is Never Done

(Rap Style)

A mother's work is never done

She doesn't have much time for fun.

It's a struggle to get through it

Only mother's seem to do it.

Wake the kids up with a smile

Make the breakfast

Clean the tile.

Pack the lunches, do the dishes,

Find the socks and grant the wishes.

Bake the cookies, wash the clothes,

Tie the shoes and make the bows.

Wipe the nose, wash the faces

Stop the fights, and check the braces.

Make the snacks and change the diapers,

Call the teachers, pay the pipers.

Make the beds and sweep the floor,

Get the phone and then the door.

Kiss the boo-boos, feed the pet,

Help with homework, call the vet.

Read the stories, trim the bangs,

Clean the windows, check the fangs.

Laugh at jokes and guess the riddles,

Listen to the horns and fiddles.

Put the teeth, and call the fairy,

Smile a lot and never tarry!

Check for fevers and for pox,

Call the doctor, match the socks.

Set up car polls, do the shopping,

Plan the parties, do the mopping.

Watch kids swim and then play soccer,

Make a meal like Betty Crocker.

Find lost books, fix broken toys,

Wipe the tears and share the joys.

Catch the gerbils, shake the rugs,

Find lost dogs and give out hugs.

A mother's work is never done.

Every day she's on the run.

Still...

With all a mother has to do,

She finds the time to love us too!

YEAH!!

My Mom

My mom. She's always thinking of me.

She always wants me to be the very best that I can be.

My mom.  She always giving to me.

She says she wants me to be the happiest a person can be.

My mom is my friend.  Just in case you didn't know.

My mom.  I love her so.

Instrumental interlude

My mom is my friend. Just in case you didn't know.

My mom.  I love her so.

I love her so.  I love her so.

I love her so.

(Blow kisses to your mom.)

You're the cream in my coffee

You're the salt in my stew

You will always be,

My necessity

I'd be lost without you.

You're the starch in my collar

You're the lace in my shoe.

You will always be

My necessity

I'd be lost without you.

Most kids tell love tales

And each phrase dovetails

You've heard each known way

This way is my own way.

You're the sail of my love boat

You're the captain and crew

You will always be

My necessity

I'd be lost without you.

You will always be

My necessity

I'd be lost without you!

Moms Are Special People

By: The Olsen Twins

Moms are special people. they hug you all the time

They help you do a lot of things you might be scared to try.

They take us to the playground, the movies and the zoo.

Mom, we're really lucky

'Cause we got you.

When we get in trouble as little as we can

We know we're gonna get that look from our favorite scan

She let's us know we messed up and sometimes she gets mad

But even though she's still the best mom kids ever had.

Oh, mother we need you every day

We think we'll keep you

Oh, mother we love you

Even more than God can say.

You're funny and you're smart

You finish once you start

We think we'll elect you President of the Mothers.

No matter where we go

I hope it really shows

You're the very best mom we know.

So mother we need you every day

We think we'll keep you

Oh, mother

We love you even more than songs can say

You're the very best specialist person

In the world.

Thanks, Mom

Thanks, mom, for all that you've done.

You've shaped my life with selfless love and grace.

Thanks mom, for giving it all.

Because of you, this world's a better place.

I think you are the greatest.

I recall how you held my hand.

You help me to do better, and I know you're my number one fan.

Oh!

Thanks, mom, for all that you've done.

You've shaped my life with selfless love and grace.

Thanks mom, for giving it all.

Because of you, this world's a better place.

When I hurt, you give comfort.

Empathize, yeah-you cry when I cry.

And we'll see all the good times.

When I win, I see you smile inside.

Oh, Oh

Thanks, mom, for all that you've done.
You've shaped my life with selfless love and grace.
Thanks mom, for giving it all.
Because of you, this world's a better place.

You help me with my problems.

Cover me with your care and concern.

Help me plan for the future.

Troubles come, but I know where to turn.

Oh, oh

Thanks, mom, for all that you've done.

You've shaped my life with selfless love and grace.

Thanks mom, for giving it all.

Because of you, this world's a better place.

Because of you, this world's a better place.

Because of you, this world's a better place.

Ooh

Thanks, Mom!

You Light Up My Life

By: Debbie Boone

So many nights

I sit by my window

Waiting for someone to sing me their song.

So many dreams, I kept deep inside me.

Alone in the dark, but now you've come a a long

And you light up my life

You give me hope to carry on.

You light up my days and fill my nights,

With song.

Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water

Could it be finally, I'm turning for home.

Finally a chance, to say

Hey! I love you

Never again, to be all alone.

'Cause you light up my life

You give me hope to carry on

You light up my days and fill my nights

With song.

(REPEAT WHOLE PART)

It can't be wrong

When it feels so right

'Cause you

You

Light

Up

My

Life!

My Mother

I like the way

My mother talks.

I like the way

She laughs and sings.

And oh, I like the way

The way she walks.

As if her feet

Had kind of wings!

Barbara Young

I'd like to buy Mother

Some perfume.

I'd like to buy Mother

A ring.

But I am too small

To have money at all

So I can't buy her

A thing!

But Mother once told me

She's happy

Just seeing me laughing

And gay--

So I'll be especially merry

When Mother's Day

Come.

In May.

Vivian G. Gouled

My Own Mother

She's always sewing buttons on.

Or mending things I tear.

Whenever I come home from school

I always find her there.

She's always doing little things

That please me very much,

Like making cakes and planning trips

To parks and zoos, and such.

She's always reading stories, too.

Or teaching me a game;

And whether I've been good or bad

She loves me just the same.

Are you surprised that I find her

Dearer than any other?

I'm sure by now you know her name.

Of course--she is my mother!

I Love You More Than Applesauce

I love you more than applesauce,
than peaches and a plum,
than chocolate hearts and cherry tarts
and berry bubblegum.

I love you more than lemonade
and yummy birthday cakes,
than lollipops and candy drops
and thick vanilla shakes.

I love you more than McDonald's,
than homemade jam on toast,
I love all pies of any size,
but I love YOU the most.

            M - O - T - H - E - R

             (Acrostic Poetry)

M  is for the million things she gave me,

O means only that she's growing old,

T is for the tears she shed to save me,

H is for her heart of purest gold;

E is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

R means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell
"MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.

Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

A Mothers Love

To some love is just a word
To me it's a feeling
A feeling I get every time I look into your eyes
A feeling I get when I realize your my mom
A mom who loves, shares,

A mom who inspires
Unconditionally
What's that?
That's love
A mothers love, but only you would know
And me.

You returned that love time and time again
Possibly too much, nevertheless, you did.
Thank-you.
Thank-you for being there when I needed you most
For being my rock when I should have been yours
Thank-you for believing in me, even when I doubted myself.
For being the one person I could trust
No matter what, no matter where.
But most of all thank-you for being you-my mom
A mom I am so proud to claim.
I love you!
Now and forever.

Mother's Day

The kindest face I'll ever see,
The kindest voice I'll ever hear.
The one who cares the most for me
Is my own mother dear.

All through the year
I'll try to do
The things that show
My love for you.
And not be happy just to say,
"I love you, Mother," on Mother's Day.
