Wonderful World
I can see
Trees and grass,
The sun and sky;
I can taste
Chocolate ice cream,
Apple pie;
I can hear
Music, laughter,
Words you said;
I can smell
Perfume, flowers,
Baking bread;
I can touch
Silk and velvet,
A baby's skin;
What a wonderful
World I'm in!

Five Senses
(Tune: Where is Thumbkin?)
Five senses, five
senses
We have them. We have them.
Seeing, hearing, touching,
Tasting and smelling.
There are five. There are five.
Sung to
"This Old Man"
With my eyes, I can see
Robins nesting in the trees
Chorus:
I see and hear, and smell, and taste, and touch
With my senses I learn so much
With my ears, I can hear
Distant noises and sounds quite near
Chorus
With my nose, I can smell
Fragrant flowers in the dell
Chorus
With my mouth, I can taste
Doughnuts, which are chocolate glazed
Chorus
With my hands, I can feel
bananas with a slippery peel
Chorus
LOOK
WHAT MY BODY CAN DO!
HERE ARE
MY EYES.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
BLINK AND CRY
AND SHINE BRIGHT BLUE.
HERE IS MY NOSE
WHAT DOES IT DO?
BREATHES AND SMELLS
AND SOMETIMES KER-CHOOS!
HERE ARE MY HANDS.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
SWING AND CATCH
AND WAVE HI TO YOU.
HERE ARE MY FEET.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
JUMP AND RUN
AND WALK TO THE ZOO!
Fingers Tell
What can your fingers
See for you?
Whether a surface
Feels old or new?
Is it bumpy, lumpy
Slippery, slick?
Prickly, scratchy,
Hard as brick?
Spongy, rough?
Softer than dough?
Touch it!
See if your fingers know.
Just Listen!
I like to listen to sounds that I know,
They're all around me, wherever I go.
Some sounds are soft as a passing cloud,
But a jet taking off is a sound that is loud.
There are little sounds I like to hear.
The tick of a watch when it's very near.
A crackling fire, and pattering rain,
Or tree branches tapping a windowpane.
There are danger sounds that warn me away
The police officer's whistle that I obey.
A siren's wail, a warning shout,
The honking car that says, "Look out!"
There are great big sounds that make me feel grand,
The proud, rich beat of a marching band.
And ocean waves crashing on rocky shores,
Or a thunderstorm, when I'm safe indoors.
Some sounds can scare me, like a growling dog,
Or a screeching cat, or a grunting hog.
Other sounds are sad, like a cry of pain,
But I listen for happy ones, and I'm glad again.
Things To Touch
Some things are so warm to touch,
Like blankets in the sun,
Horses pulling heavy loads,
A fresh-baked sugar bun.
Some things are so cool to touch,
Like pebbles in a stream,
The marble on a table top,
A dish of peach ice cream.
Some things are so smooth to touch,
Like worn pews in a church,
Inside a mossy acorn cup,
A bark-peeled stick of birch.
Some things are so soft to touch,
Like snow, my cozy bed,
But best of all, my grandma's hand
That gently strokes my head.
