abdomen: the stomach

antennae- This is a sensitive feeler that the butterfly has.

caterpillar-The larva of a butterfly.

chrysalis- This is a hard shell.  Inside of the chrysalis is the butterfly.

host plants- The plants the eggs are laid on are called this.

insects-The body is divided into three sections: the head, thorax and abdomen. Most have wings.

larva-A small insect hatches from an egg is called the larva.  The    larva of a butterfly is called a caterpillar.

metamorphosis- a change of form

migrate-to change your habitat

nectar-A sweet substance secreted by plants. 

pupa-Inside the chrysalis the body of the butterfly is formed.  This stage is called the pupa stage.

thorax-the part of the body that houses the heart and lungs and a number of structures passing between the neck and the abdomen.
