Through the ages apples have appeared in legends, poems, and religious books.The Egyptians and Romans introduced apples to Britain.

Apples have been a favorite fruit of people for at least 2 1/2 million years! Archaeologists studying the ruins of Stone Age villages in Europe have found the charcoal remains of apples. By the 300's B.C., theAncient Greeks were growing several varieties of apples.  

About 5,000 years ago, apples were gathered and stored.

Early Americans brought apple seeds and apple trees from Europe and planted trees in Massachusetts  and Virginia. The colonists dried their apples and used them in making cider and apple butter. John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed became famous when he planted seeds wherever he went.
